Hybrid Life

On tuesday I Had to be at the movie night and stuff swap. At the movie I talked with Liz on the phone, getting final confirmation details for Josh on friday. Also took some expired posters off the walls to print on. After the swap, we stenciled some designs on the back of a vest.

On wednesday, because class was cancled, I stopped by Katie smiths office to pick up more financial forms. Then walked over to the theater to check on the theater rental stuff and ask about sound equipment. I fliered for dorfman in sprau, wood, dunbar, and friedman.

WSA voted on three environmental resolutions today, all passed.

From noon to 6 today I did not leave the peace center. I cleaned out the entire sse closet, sorted all of our stuff, and made 8 Posters to go up on the kiosks using the spray paint and stencils. Then stopped by emilies for a sandwich and came home. (Made potatoes and ham for dinner)

Thursday, missed Katie smith due to being backlogged starting with a traffic stop. Once on campus, worked on puting up posters in sangren until weekly meeting. At meeting sent around signup sheets for upcoming events. People are going to be talking to classes about upcoming events.
Friday, finally went back to class. After class met with Katie Smith and Sasha. Hopefully got all ofhte paperwork finally taken care of for Josh Dorfman. Liz has agreed to take a pay cut due to limited funding. Then spent the rest of the day at the world poverty day fair. Lightly attended. Passed out a few fliers and got a few signups. Came home with emily and ate vegi tacos, watched hackers and loser.

Just programmed all of our events for the rest of the semester into the Kalamazoo weekly newspapers events calender. Accorting to their site, they have 20,000 readers. Don’t know if that’s actually accurate, but it couldn’t hurt anything.

Wednesday March 11th:
Went to Comma Meeting, listened to guy from Kellogg talk about foods like Kashi, and also about getting a job in any sector. Also asked the COMMA kids to get more involved and to gather scrap paper and drop it at the Peace Center for Fliers.

Thursday March 12: Met with Brandon from COMMA and David from WSA to talk about Dorfman Funding. Went directly from that to dinner with Vandana Shiva at Just good food. Talked with Lynne Heasley about SSE/ ENVS cooperation. Talked to Travis about doing the cooking workshop.
Passed out fliers at the Vandana shiva event and re collected the unused ones. Made announcement about upcoming events.

Friday March 13th: Picked up Emily and Kristen, went to grocery.

7PM, Sasha, Ben, Chelsea, Travis, Ezra, Emily, Kristen, and Bens friend Adrienne over for dinner. Spaghetti and Salad, Bread and wine, ice cream and maple syrup.

On Saturday, I spent most of the day just hanging out watching web videos with Emily. In the evening around 5 we went over to the family house and had St.Pattys dinner. Came home around midnight.

Sunday woke up to Emily watching Last king of scotland. To cheer her up we then watched heavyweights. Then Went out to dinner at Chilis with her roommates, then back to my place where we watched wet hot american summer. Finally took her home and hung out at the dorm until around 11.

Once home, got a call from Ben about a dumpster, so I ran out to help him transport everything he found. Got home and in bed around 2.

Yesterday I had to go into campus early to take a test, but after that I spent almost the entire day working on campus. I was based in the peace center having discussions with Sasha and Ben. I delivered the food that Ben and I dumpstered the night before. I then put up the remaining workshop, and SSE informational posters around campus until around 7. From the peace center I sent out email reminders about the weekly events. Once I got home, I went thru the web and found old announcements and articles about SSE involvements and posted them on the blog site.

Aside from dealing with constant problems with the Dorfman event (papers needed to be notorized before they were sent to me, the hotel is not donating a room) the good news is that the dorfman agency is only charging us 6K plus 500 for travel and a $75 per diem which falls within the current budget.

I also made a quint sheet set of handouts with info on Josh, Joel, and our website to hand out at Vandana Shiva and at the tabling sessions in the Bernhard Center.

Sent out an email to COMMA, CRs and the volunteer listserve to ask for people to table at the Vandana event.

Got call from Liz, realized I missed delivery of contract from Josh. Will get it again on Tuesday. Sent fax to Holiday Inn. Carolyn and Skintones are now confirmed, sent email to tell them to go ahead and start their own marketing. Sent emails to Gazette for cooking workshop and Josh Dorfman.

Got alot of phonecalls today. Got a call this morning from Al Heilman from the county republicans. Requested a description of the workshop via email, which I sent out.
Also got a call from Chris from PFC, said he can definitely do the workshop. Liz called, said she was going to fedex the contracts for Josh Dorfman. They should be here tomorrow. Also, got an email today from Carolyn, confirming the Skintones involvement in the dance party.

Last night, I made two fliers for Dorfman on photoshop.
